A fairly long-winded opinion piece on the football video game Backbreaker. The demo is out now and I've had a few days to play, analyze, and jot down some notes.

  • I think i judged the game too early. I'm dowloading the demo again to give it another shot. Great video by the way.

  • @chad301894 Good to hear from ya, chad. Putting in some time with the demo or renting the game is highly recommended. This game isn't pick up and play--the developers were wrong on that point. It takes a while. I've finished 5 seasons and I'm still learning new tricks.

  • @mentored1 I think I might buy it when i get the money.

  • @chad301894 I think the price is coming down already. Not surprisingly, it hasn't sold that well. There's an update for the game coming out soon; it will fix a lot of minor glitches and likely tune up the AI. It's a great game either way.

  • madden is a bullshit half ass cow dick suck game and people cant handle the truth that backbreaker is better

  • nice beard

  • @nkslnkvl Yeah the presentation is vastly different. I love the lack of commentary; but then again I hated the commentary in Madden anyways! The generic players are unfortunate. I made a custom league and I'm into season 2, so I'm starting see the differences between the players in terms of ability and performance. It would be nice to have more varied models in the future. The lack of licensing is a strong point, IMO, because it allows the community to come up with anything.

  • @mentored1 i agree and disagree a bit, the stuff that really took me out of the game was the lack of announcers and the ability to connect to the players as if they were real people, partially becuase of the licensing, but more so because the player models looked like something out of Dreamcast. But in all honesty, the natural motion shit was fanfuckingtastic, i was very impressed and really look forward to next year's game and game's in the years to come.

  • @nkslnkvl It's definitely not for everyone. At least you tried! I had the opposite problem. I played the BB demo so much that the NCAA demo felt stale and uninspiring. It's easy to jump right into NCAA--everything is familiar after so many years--but it takes a while to get into BB. That lack of immediate appeal is a hurdle for people.

  • after playing ncaa(demo) and BB(demo) back to back, BB just doesnt measure up for me personally.
