It was in this haunted place
under a moonless cloak of ebony.
I was drawn to the glow
of a young spiritess weeping
in the woods.

The blackest ravens and ice-veiled boughs
have spoken of you, goddess of these bleak woods.
I yearn for your embrace,
Spiritess of the melancholia.
Show me again your sweet face.
Enchant me with your rich, cinder burnt ether.
Lure me into your arms,
And bless unto me eternal death.

Album: Pale Folklore
Year: 1999

  • This morning, I was exhausted, broken, will-less to get myself to prepare for a day of work....and then I took a listen of this song. I closed my eyes, and just absorbed every note, ever pitch, and every word. This song brought me back to myself and helped me find peace. No song has ever done that for me before. There is something unearthly about this song, and this band. Perhaps it is because, through their music they have achieved a sound level like none other. Simply, Hail Agalloch. \m/

  • Have you noticed that the scenic images--winter, mountain, forest--always fit perfectly with Agalloch's music?

  • Greetings from Ecuador.....

  • Great guitar sounds

  • @DrSoltberg so i had to look Pantheism on Google, and loved the ideology =)

  • @sk8rt33 This song makes me feel at peace as well, but It also makes me want to embrace life and be a part of it. Can't say I'm ready to die...then I wouldnt be able to listen to Agalloch...hey...if you like Agalloch check out a French band called Les Discrets...you'll like it I promise.

  • @remolino0867 I always thought so as well.

  • my girlfriend broke up with me today.. it was real.. i'm normally strong and can handle anything.. but somehow.. that made me cry for hours unend.. then i started listening to this. it just.. makes me feel at peace. and even though i'm not thinking suicide.. i can somehow say i'm ready to die.

    Agalloch <3

  • 2:24 is one of the most beautiful riffs ever made

  • This song is twelve minutes long and every time it ends I get sad because I wish it could last forever.

  • @xXMetalMan666Xx if you didnt enjoythe first album try "ashes against ther grain" and just lay down while listening and close your eyes. :)
