Hey everyone i bought this game around a month ago and at first was having terrible frame rate. I went messing around with the settings and figured out the best method on how to stop lag in Minecraft!
Procedure:
-First of all you need to go to your in game settings
-Change your Graphics from "Fancy" to "Fast".
-Next step is go to Render Distance and change that a few times until it gets to "Tiny" you can make it either Far, Normal, Short and Tiny. The frame rate gets better the lower fog setting you go. So Far Render Distance will make you lag more than Tiny.
-Once you do all of these steps close out of your setting and you should have a considerably higher frame rate.
Tips: A few things to keep in mind while playing to have less lag.
-Stay inside of your house or in caves as much as possible because the outside has around five times more things to generate than the underground or inside does.
-A very important thing is to have almost half the lag is instead of playing full screen, use the "in browser" option on www.minecraft.net or you can play half screen by making the screen smaller. (or press "Restore")
-If at all possible avoid being in water including boats etc.
Note: I did not use Fraps to record because I wanted everyone to see my Fps during the video. The reason I was still lagging after i fixed all the default settings is because i was recording the video :)
I hope that all of the are having a lot better connection in Minecraft.
Like the video if it helps or comment so i know that you're all benefiting from it.

@sharonvinco try pressing f11. that will make it full screen, and less laggy.

the problem is that you have to sacrifice render distance. I don't like that. there are a number of ways to increase fps without sacrificing render distance.

@TheDudeProductions1 If there are multiple other ways to increase fps, then why don't you make your own video about them to inform the other 150,000 people that watched this video.
