Gen Zia ul haq's speech in the Islamic Summit.

General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq was the President and military ruler of Pakistan from July 1977 to his death in August 1988. After widespread civil disorder, he overthrew ruling Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in a bloodless coup d'état on 5 July 1977. Zia's major domestic initiatives included the state's Islamization, the consolidation of the fledgling nuclear program, and denationalization and deregulation leading to a rejuvenated economy.

During his rule of Pakistan, he pursued policies contributing to the Islamization of Pakistan and making the dream of its founding fathers come true..He reformed the country's laws to make them compatible with Sharia and was instrumental in declaring the Ahmaddiya sect, similar to the Bahai's of Iran who challenge the finality of the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), as outside the fold of Islam and prohibited its propagation..

Zia died along with several of his top generals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistan in an aircraft crash near Bahawalpur (Punjab) on 17 August 1988, the circumstances of which remain unclear..

  • Nice video of a good and fair Pakistani muslim. Only Iranian agents hate him bcoz of their failure in Afghanistan. Afghan war was our war as it protected us from Soveit Union. A brave person who could challenge any enemy of Pakistan.

  • @pervazeshaheen Why would Iranians ever hate him? He had terrific relations with the Islamic govt in Iran as long as he lived..

People hate him for other reasons..Mainly coz he back-tracked on his promise to hold elections in 90 days..Muslims don't go back on their words, and thats why we should carefully choose them..

  • @nilo723 Iran had also good relationship with Soveit Union. moreover tension b/w Iran and Saudi Arabia can't be ignored. Even Islamic govt of Iran is very complex. In international relations they always prefer their Firqa to Islam.

  • @pervazeshaheen LOL! For them, their firqa is Islam..For every group their firqa is Islam thats why they are following it..

So keep your racism and sectarian-hatred to your own self..

  • In my history book Zia is not a good person. But if you think he was a good person than its good. I should also appreciate that. I should hate a corrupt person and you should love a good person. There is nothing wrong in that.

I meant to say was we should stick to principles and principles say to us that.

    1. Not interference in other countries affairs.

    2. Respecting democracy.

    3. People of Pakistan should be powerful.

    4. Respecting all religions and sects of Islam equally.

  • @myinfotech001 I agree with all 9, regardless of how superficial some of them might be..

And i see Imran Khan as the only leader competent enough..

    5. No concept of elites (jaghirdarz, and army supremacy)

    6. No advantage of religion to any one in Pakistan.

    7. Govt. should not allow any kind of interference of any country in Pakistan.

    8. Foreign policies should be crystal clear and all the time in front of people of Pakistan. and no lies.

    9. Govt. should respect wishes of people of Pakistan.

  • @myinfotech001 LOL! I respect Bhutto to be the only independent leader in Pakistan after Jinnah..And now we have Imran Khan..

Zia ul haq was a military dictator who came to power by force..He lied and went back on his promise to hold elections in 90 days..But his foreign policy was excellent..Afghan Jihad was launched by Bhutto and continued by Zia..The first Pakistani jihad was launched by Jinnah, and tribal people were called by Jinnah himself to fight..

Here you see Zia defending Iran too!

  • @nilo723

I am talking about principles and you are talking about history and defending people. I give you example of Bhutto because i thought you would agree with me. Rest i have no sympathies for Bhutto. U can abuse him, or what ever you like to do with him. I would not mind because in history if i would have read him like you, i would also abuse him.

I don't know why we Pakistanis defend one person at the cost of millions of people.

  • @nilo723

Ok. U r right, both were wrong. But they should not have interfered in internal affairs of other countries.

My goal is not to defend any body. These are principles, I am talking to you about.
