Like most people I view Realtors as being in the way. They simply do not deserve the commissions they recieve. They have been instrumental in the current housing bubble. They will say anything to make a sale. It's always in a Realtors best interests to make you pay the most money for your house. It's only a matter of time before the internet takes over; and Realtors are used soley for paperwork processing. As a buyer I hope this happens sooner than later.

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience. I tend to agree with you. However what are your values? I provide a service for my clients. They are my priority, not my commission. It is my goal to find out what my clients are looking for and help them get it. Finding pocket listings, describing city characteristics and my experience with construction help my clients understand the good/bad points in a home. True, however the school district in Palos Verdes is excellent for young families. There are other reasons why Palos Verdes is more expensive, I would be happy to show you if your interested.

It's consumer attitudes like these that make real estate especially challenging - and eliminate so many caring good agents. I've never heard of anyone being forced to use a Realtor. Agents haven't earned 6 percent around here for many many years (when home prices were lower). As for the price arguement, that's a common misconception... As agents we make our money on 'turns' not home prices...nothing is worse for us than diminished home affordability.

I'm very surprised you didn't delete my comment. In the starkest terms the Realtor - buyer relationship is very simple. The more they pay the more you make. With today's outragous prices I do not believe your consulting services, unless for a rich elite are worth a 6% commission. This is just too much money. You're a Realtor. Not a Lawyer. I understand you are servicing a very upscale area however it is still too much money. I can only hope the internet levels everything.
