  • I like the concept of "life time energy usage"

    and using the Sydney Opera House and your discussion about what we can be proud of..and "what is it about buildings that make them no good and don't expect them to survive".

  • when I was at school the building was being re-built while we were still attending it. It had been built after the war and was well past its best. Before they started the walls had holes in them and the upstair corridors undulated as you walked along!

    Possibly worse is the brand new school in my town which was built on an old land-fill site. It sank an inch in its first year standing as the ground settled beneath it. Many structural repairs needed!
