One of the many beautiful sounds of Cranberry Lake, NY located in the western edge of the Adirondack Mountains. Fifty years later, I can still hear their lonesome call at evening...Chipmunks running all over our tent at night... Raccoons checking out the trash cans... Black bears running 35mph down to the local dump site... Watching Loons by moonlight...What memories!

This sound to me kind of falls in a catagory with a sad whistle of a train... one that you cannot tear your self away from. Love the call of the loon.

I don't know what it is about the sound they make but it always stops me dead in my tracks! I wish I knew how to attract more to my pond and have them stay the summer but they always leave! :(
