A lot of people I know don't particularly like the SCA, our group belongs to it, but we tend to do more events with the local society. SCA groups somehow tend to be kind of elitist, and thats kind of offputting.

@JVRottweil Round me we fight with steel in the SCA in non-frat events. Well, not exactly fight since its re-enactment fights and things tend to be choreographed, but still.

I wouldn't go so far as to say fighting from your knees is dire. I've killed a few people from my knees.

@teren4m We fight with steel in the US as well. Just not in the SCA. Ladies and Men. ADrian Empire is one of many groups that do.
