Through this mutual understanding between performer and audience, the actor is free to behave in ways they would not in their normal life without actually feeling embarrassed or self-conscious. These practices are common throughout entertainment endeavors, especially those meant to be comedic in nature. I suggest watching other comedy pieces and you will come to understand these ideas in time.
