Building & Commissioning the George HW Bush Aircraft Carrier

The George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) is the 10th and final Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. This evolutionary ship will pave the way to a new class of carriers. Named after the nation's 41st president, this powerful warship of the 21st century will feature numerous improvements and modernizations.

It takes millions of man-hours and nearly seven years to build a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. There are many construction milestones that happen along the way - starting with the laying of the keel and ending with delivery to the Navy.

Lots of "peaceniks" are really supporting the other side (except that we live in a complex, multi-polar world---The binary of pure goodness on our side and pure evil on the other is a dangerous fantasy). The USA has been a great force for both good and ill since World War II, but we CANNOT continue to police the globe--It is bankrupting us.

@hyperseauton Papi Bush was a combat veteran, volunteered in 1941 and became a Naval Aviator at 18 years old, shot down over the pacific, received a Distinguished Flying Cross, if any president (in addition to JFK) deserves a massive killing colossus named after them, it's this guy.

6.2 billion dollars is the total cost of this carrier well is't the goverment itself produce this kind of project or is there a company who are specialised to this kind of project or plan?
