  • I think the two people who hit the dislike button are just jealous ;)

  • @Egg99Rhubarb, possibly, or more likely they are people with something against me!

  • a peal must take hours on these bells

  • @WrongAndHome, a peal takes hours on any ring of bells, that is an inescapable fact! But I suppose that if they allowed a peal attempt on the back 6, with the tenor rung by one person alone, then if there were any chance of ringing it without the tenor ringer giving up through exhaustion, you would take the better part of 5 hours!

  • IMpressive!! Pity at first viewing you can hardly distinguish each bell. This must have taken some ringing?!

  • @simonbellringer, thank you for your comment. They're much clearer as a 6 than as a 12! Most of the band here are experienced heavy bell ringers, and they do go very well for their weight. If you were going to ring this 6 for any length of time, though, you'd have to go a lot slower than the ringing here!

  • @bellboy222 Did a young persons quarter on Christ Churchs back 6 in 42 minutes!! And Grandsire on Wootton Bassetts back 6 in 43 minutes - i think that's the hardest quarter I have ever rung, it was hot, fast, and people insisted on going wrong on me!! Christ Church's quarter was a minute faster but the ringing felt slower - which was probably because it was better quality ringing by far!! And Christ Churchs back 6 sound really brilliant!!!

  • To my knowledge there are only a few that have rung the tenor at Liverpool for a full peal and the first was a great man called Peter Border whom I had the privilege of ringing with at Coventry Cathedral

  • @bellboy222 Surely you must have earned a pop at turning that bad boy in to a peal, single handed, Martin? I reckon you'd do it, no problem, to Minor or major...

  • @bellboy222 Maybe theyd be more distinguishable if they were rung slower? I still say these are a waste of space, but everyone else seems to like them...
