JUST MISSED!!! "Mama Look A - Boo Boo" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 20 weeks in the Top 100 in 1957!!!

I grew up singing this off an old Harry Belafonte 78rpm.... later heard the original Lord Melody... much later met some of what Harry was singing of...

@MsTommyknocker yes it is it was first started in Trinidad and othe caribbean countries followed with thier own styles but it is mostly sung on things that are happening in society and people it started in slavery days when slaves use to sing about their slave masters and people that they don't like

This is one great song pure Calypso popular in the middle 50s. Harry was the leader, no doubt about that. What a great time that was. Thanks for a great post. Super song.

I sing this to my husband.. his reply to me is the song, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life". And yeah, before you ask, we really do love each other. lol
