I don't think Charlie Van Dyke stopped doing the Voiceovers for KCTV5 in 1994, as I have a Sinefeld promo on-tape somewhere from around late 1996/early 1997 when KCTV used to air reruns of it after The Late Show with David Letterman. The promo ends with Van Dyke saying what time and on what channel it would air that night.
Now that I come to think of it, the last time I remember hearing him on KCTV was somewhere around late 1998/early 1999.

@Reed488 Charlie VanDyke stopped doing KCTV 5's voice over in 1994 to work as the voice over announcer for Columbia and Jefferson City's NBC Affiliate- KOMU 8 in 1995.
-
@DorvellTStewart He left KCTV 5 in 1994 to be the announcer for KOMU 8 in 1995.

@DorvellTStewart Your memory is correct. I just saw a new video posted to YouTube of KCTV5's weekend news intro from 1990, and the solo anchor for the newscast was Brent Hunsaker (as his name is apparently spelled). He is currently at ABC 4 in Salt Lake City. According to his bio on ABC 4's website, he was also an adjunct professor of broadcasting at Rockhurst University while at Channel 5.

@DENo1MatchGameFan Aw.
-
@MysticArksRevenge No, I don't.
-
@DENo1MatchGameFan So, do you know who used to do the old Warning System/weather crawl for Channel 9?
-
@MysticArksRevenge I know Wayne Godsey was the main GM at Channel 9 until last month - not sure about the others, but I found out about Regent through Wikipedia, & have read articles about him in the past.
-
@DENo1MatchGameFan That figures. So who was the general managers of KCTV 5, KMBC 9, WDAF 4, and KSHB 41 back in the 1980s and the 1990s?
-
@MysticArksRevenge I think it was caused by Regent Ducas, the former GM of KCTV-5, who brought the 'live, late-breaking, investigate' tag, and promoted Katie Horner to chief meteorologist at Channel 5 back in 2002. That caused Anne Peterson & Dave Helling to retire, and all hell began to break loose on that station, then the others started to copy them, with Channel 9 being the worst these days!
God, back when KCTV5 (and all of the Kansas City stations, for that matter) was professional and serious about reporting on what mattered to Kansas City. When I was a kid, that was the only station I ever watched. I miss the days of Wendall Anschutz, Anne Peterson, Russell Kinsaul, Tracy Townsend, Stan Cramer with his "Call for Action" reports, William Jackson, and Gary Amble when he was Chief Meteorologist. When Anschutz left in 2001, that was the beginning of Channel 5's end.

This was back when KCTV 5 was a quality station that was not "Live...Late Breaking...Investigative."
