Rowdy gets my vote for most pathetic boss in NES history. Even Glass Joe puts up more of a fight than that guy.

Many games today are more like interactive movies IMO. Play a little then watch a cutscene; play little more then watch an even longer cutscene. I like the 8 and 16-bit eras of gaming far more than any other era.
