I'm not sure. It seems that he only wrote the spoken lines and the lyrics were written by Sheldon Harnick.

It's a shame Lazar Wolf wasn't matched, however thinking of Tzeitel being married to Lazar left me very sad. She didn't want to be married to him, she had her heart set on a poor tailor, he was old and Lazar didn't feel right for Tzeitel. I wonder if an arranged marriage falling apart ever really happened.
