@Moyniac On a spinning reel, you should be able to adjust it towards the top of the reel. Baitcasters it is usually a wheel you turn. Turn drag to the left to loosen it, turn to the right to tighten it. Drag is what amount of pull, the reel starts to let the fish take line out but still under tension. Lighter drag means the fish will take line out at less pull, but it will take longer to pull him in. More drag is the opposite, but if you do too much, there is no give and the line breaks.

learn how to use your drag. The longer that fish is in the water, The more of a chance there is of him getting away.
