The song 'Divining Rod' was written by David Carradine who was sadly found dead today June 4, 2009. I know the song only from one of my favorite films 'Roadside Prophets' by Abbe Wool. In the scene John Doe and Adam Horowitz stumble upon Mr. Carradine sitting on the porch of an old airstream smoking out of a hukka pipe and singing this song while strumming an acoustic guitar. I always loved the scene and the song. When I heard he died today I found an old copy of the film and figured out the lyrics and chords. I make no pretense of being able to sing it or play it or even know it very well. But in honor of him, here it goes.
I just watched another video of David Carradine singing this song. He called it as "The Artichoke Song" because he wrote in an artichoke field on the set of Bound For Glory. He said he wrote it because he was in love. Hard to tell who he was in love with at that time. By some (of his) accounts he was trying to get over Barbara Hershey. He had also just broke up with Season Hubley. And there was an actress in that movie that he said he was also sleeping with. You did a good job with it.

Awesome job! I've watched the Roadside Prophets clip of this song at least 50 times today.
