Here's something a little different from the usual live version - Mysterious Ways using a Les Paul, which is a bit heavier than normal but then I don't have a Ric 12 string. Kind of a mix of versions (live vs. record). I'm using the Korg A3 Funkwah preset. I sequenced the backing track (bass, drum, keys, and a few extra guitar parts) in Logic.

  • That sounds superb! I wish I had an A3. At 2:39, I think you are playing the normal B major. Try a B minor that one time, that's what the official Achtung Baby music book says, and I think it works.

  • @Custom2212 Thanks! Good pointer there, I tried it and I do like the Bmin sound. Adds a little something interesting to the bridge. I'm working on doing another version with the Ric and will incorporate that.

  • @Trabant1989 Cool. It's just literally that one time where the words are "one day you'll look back..."

  • @Custom2212 I agree it's a very subtle change but it makes that section stand out a little bit more. Thanks for the tip.

  • So does anyone know what makes the auto wah on korg A3 so special? What are the main parameters of the korg a3 that give this song its unique song. Just trying to learn how to replicate this sound on something other than korg.

  • @ricomajestic Then main components of the A3 Funkwah sound are Distortion, Autowah (i.e. Envelope Filter), Delay, Flanger, and Reverb. I think what's unique to the A3 is that the Autowah is very resonant, and it also helps to overdrive the A3 in such a way that it almost clips a bit. I usually turn off the A3 Distortion block and use something else for distortion with more control over the EQ.

  • Is there anyway I could get a copy of that backing track? Sounds great!

  • I see flower-painted trabants hanging from the ceiling everywhere...

  • You are the only person I know who is not The Edge, that can play Mysterious Ways Perfectly!

  • Thanks for posting this dude. I'm supposed to be playing this song at a gig in a few days and I'm listening to the song like, "Ok how am I gonna do this?" And now I know.

  • This is probably the best sounding Mysterious Ways cover I've heard on YouTube. All kinds of people use that special MW patch but it sounds off. This sounds much closer than what people are playing around here.
