I understand what you are saying, but I have a panic attack everytime I see blood like this. I don't udnerstand why I do that or how to distance myself. LOL. Maybe there is a drug for that! Your right, just calm down and take a step back. Thank you for the calming advise. LOL

@slinahan100 Desensitize yourself by looking at it over and over. Compartmentalize what you're seeing. A vein is just a tube. Blood is just some liquid with red blood cells in it, making it red.... don't think of it as draining blood from a person. The body is just a squishy machine.

I'm doing my clinicals at this horrible hospital where every phlebotomist ignores the rules...I am not getting the proper training at all. Every last of them shake the tubes, when i try to do venipunctures the right way they push me out the way saying i'm doing it all wrong...pray i make it through clinicals

this guy was a very easy stick. you dont even need to tourniquet him to hit his veins.
What I really need to find is videos/instructions and techniques on how to hit deep veins, hitting veins on people with poor vein selection. HELP

1. gloves always go on first.
2. horrible cleaning job
3. never put any of your fingers UNDER the the wing of a butterfly needle... -facepalm-
4. thats an SST tube, you dont invert those..
5. dont use a butterfly for a vein like that
