I heard at the time, Peter wrote this whole album in two days while tripping on acid! that's a 4 sided album!....correct me if I'm wrong!

@brasileiroseia (continued...) as much as i love the old stuff, i think they really hit their peak in the late 70's. later in the 80's they really changed a lot from their progressive past, but while it's not my favorite stuff that they put out, it still is almost all amazing music. put it up to any other music that was coming out then, and it is so much better than any of it!

they never really did leave behind their prog roots, with tracks like domino and driving the last spike

@brasileiroseia yeah, i feel the same. gabriel era genesis was fantastic, and i love it but i think it's clear that peter doesn't really like the old genesis stuff anymore. usually when he talks about it, it sounds like he had a good time and has some fond memories but is also in some ways almost embarassed by it. he thinks much of the music was pretentious, or at least that's how he comes across to me...

@seanboud  Only a sheeple would except anything that's thrown at them. daryl might be ok at jazz and running scales. But he cannot create the atmosphere that Steve did, which was integral to Genesis Proper.

@corum428 Only an elitist snob or moron could ever refer to Daryl Stuermer as anything other than a masterful guitarist. Get over it. He more than fills the shoes and is versatile to boot. Look at his body of work and Hackett's. Stop mooning over 40 year old lineup changes.
