Columbus Day may have been a day off for many Ohio public service workers but it wasn't a day off for the Labor 2010 program and public service workers who used the day off to volunteer for Monday's public service workers Day of Action. In Lima, members of the National Association of Letters Carriers (NALC) hit doors throughout the city and talked to union members, many of who were off because of the holiday, about their choice in this year's election and the importance of voting for labor-endorsed candidates, like Governor Strickland, U.S. Senate candidate Lee Fisher, and Congressional candidates John Boccieri, Steve Driehaus, Mary Jo Kilroy, Zack Space and Betty Sutton and other statewide candidates.
NALC members, including Ohio State NALC President John Dyce, also walked in Mansfield. Members of OCSEA, AFSCME Council 8, OAPSE/AFSCME and other public service workers unions walked in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and other parts of the state.
