I'd never heard of Barbara Mcnair untill I bumped into a YOUTUBE video about her last year. The first time I saw her my eyes nearly popped out of my head! She's the most beautiful woman I have ever seen!
@Jasonskid It wasn't that Barbara McNair was "older" than most other Rock/Soul artists of her time .... it's that she was far more sophisticated sounding and, as a result, appealed to a more mature audience, vs. the "kids" of the day. Barbara McNair was, also, far more beautiful than any female artist at Motown. She was, after all, voted by Cosmopolitan as one of the top-10 most beautiful women in the world in 1972 (or '73).
Motown signed her and then fumbled, handing to her countless songs done already by Motown artists. So Gladys Horton's version far exceeds this performance but it's not McNair's fault. She deserved more adult and more sophisticated material. Even most of the backing track here is the original used for the Marvelettes recording.
Gladys Horton did this so much better!I like Ms.McNair but the Supper Clubs was her forte & at the time she was much older then most Rock & Soul arttists.

In the Anthology booklet, it says the track was recorded in LA. Clearly that can't be the case since that's the Funk Brothers playing.

Hi, Jasonkid. Did you mean Gladys Knight of the Pips? She sang a great version of this also.
