This is a glimmer of my story before, during and after my TM onset in 2007. I made this mainly because all I ever see when I search Transverse Myelitis, are sad videos, and never any to give me hope at the beginning of my TM onset. I hope this will at least let some people realize it truly is mind over matter. If not, I'd still be dependent on people to do everything for me. Never let yourself be discouraged by things that happen to your 'outer shell' (body.) In most cases as with me, it helped me really see what needed to be created, designed and invented for people who have limited to no use of their limbs and body. This is what I have for the newly diagnosed TM person ... I trust it gives you hope!

  • Thank you all for your positive feedback. I hope you all continue to be uplifted while you are sarching for answers and working toward your individual recoveries. Keep your heads up!! :)

  • Hi Lydia, thank you so much for this inspiring video! I am so proud of your strength and thankful that you shared your story. My loved one is in the hospital right now, and we feel this is what he has. I was wondering if I could e-mail you for some advice about your experience.

  • @MichiganAutoLaw I hope you have been able to keep positive although the situation seems quite detestation to all parties at the time of onset. You may absolutely contact me, through my YouTube email, if you have any questions. Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Thank you all for your wonderful feedback. Never give up on yourself and your ability to persevere through the (for lack of a better word) tough situation you have been tested with.

  • I am glad you made this video even though I am one of the ones left with disability issues; there are people that do make a reasonable to complete recovery and I think it is important to show that.

  • @duchessjewell ~ I completely agree with you and that is why I made this. I desperately searched for close to 4 years for any videos of hope and inspiration in dealing with TM... found one or two... and knew I had to change that. Thank you for your comment!

  • Great video. I am still recovering from transverse myelitis from 8 months ago. I was paralyzed from the waist down and the left arm. It also stopped my breathing and I was on a ventilator and then pneumonia etc. I had just finished training for a 100 mile mountain bike race when I became ill. I can't completely walk yet but I rode my two wheel bike 5 miles on independence day. I posted that. I hope to one day make a video like yours. Good work!

  • Thanks for making this Lydia, I too believe that there need to be more stories shared of recovery from Transverse Myelitis. Funnily enough, I was a hairdresser too 4 years ago when I got TM. I'm now a support worker helping others with physical and intellectual disabilities, but never forget, there for the grace of god go I. Good on you for sharing your story! There is ALWAYS hope!

  • I had my attack dec 3rd 2010 and i just hit my 3 month mark; i am still paralyzed from about the bellybutton down. I'm on chemo and prednisone and going to physical and occupational therapy. Waiting to see if I'll make any improvement... this video was nice to see because it is optimistic, I agree that most of the videos on here are super depressing. I searched TM while still in the hospital and broke down crying because they all made everything seem so hopeless.

  • thank u so much....at 31 as a single mom i was diagnosed 6weeks ago...totally paralyzed from bra line down....couldnt take a step. im now walking 6 weeks later...not far but its a start and more than i was told i would do EVER

  • Thank you so much for making this video. I was affected by Transverse Myelitis (TM) Nov. 26, 2010, the day after Thanksgiving, and diagnosed shortly after. I was no longer able to walk right. I am still numb from the chest down, partially paralyzed. Right before I watched your video this morning, I just broke down crying in my wheelchair, frustrated at how difficult simple tasks had become. Trying to

  • ...get a mid-night meal since I'd slept most of the day. The idea of just giving up on my dreams and basically any sort of happiness had started to cross my mind. Seeing how you got through it strengthened me. I needed to come across this video. I too saw so many sad videos. After watching this one, I am much more hopeful :)
