there not permited from dancing on TV
-
why are you sourprised?

While Arab (Muslims speicifically) wish to end their cultural heritage, the US-Americans have welcomed it. This type of dance is considered unacceptable within Islam hence the move to end it.
-
Islam basically does not permit dancing and in particular in front of men and wearing revealing outfits. The dance itself is Arab, not Islamic and therefore the religious people of the Middle East do not want it. It will disappear from Eygpt by the end of the century.

Bellydancing is losing its glory, but it's not because of any conservative backlash. Has this guy seen any videos recently on Arab TV channels? It's just that young people view it as out of style. They are more into hiphop and other Western influences. I went to a party recently and it was only the old women who were bellydancing. Culture evolves and goes through trends and phases. Just as people in the US are not into 60s or even 80s style dance anymore, the same is true for Arab culture.
