Long before there ever was a Fox network, TV-47 was an independent station. WJRT-TV in Flint had effectively blocked WFSL's owners from securing ABC affiliation, so they were faced with the task of filling the new station's entire schedule with movies and syndicated programs. This is a preview of some of the new programs set to air on WFSL, aired during their initial broadcast on December 1, 1982.
Elaborate?

Seems to be an awful lot of movies and re-runs on there. I guess one can't really compare to some of the local ITV stations over here which produced their own programmes- which at least had the other stations on the network to suport them. (ITV worked as a number of regional franchises acting together as a network, each providing some network and some region-specific programming.) Here I suppose it's one station out there on its own, and has to show something affordable?

I would like to see some of the clips of original programming from channel 6 in Lansing - shows like Mr. Mayor and Martha Dixon.

I remember when they first started out as an independent station. For awhile all they had were movies and syndicated old TV shows.

I notice they used pieces of Mike Oldfield's Tubular
Bells on some of these promos.
