The Prius has been in production in Japan since 1997, long before the Insight. The Insight only appeared in the US one year before the Prius. The Insight did not sell well because it was too small. It barely fit two adults and a couple of bags of groceries and cost them same as the 2001 Prius ($20K). The last insights came off the assembly line in 2006.

you realize the insight was in the states long before the prius right? Honda can do whatever it wants

Well, the Honda Insight we are seeing is only the concept, and not available for sale yet. Remember, this is a compact car. While it is supposed to seat 5 I think they mean with three kids in the back unlike the Prius which is a mid-size car and easily fits 5 adults. The $19K price for the insight isn't much cheaper considering it is a small compact car with a 1 liter engine. It is good to see more options though. Just a little late. We didn't learn from the 70s, at all.
Gee, it looks like the 2010 version of a Toyota Prius. Does Toyota know Honda took their car design, changed the grill, and then called it an Insight?
