Men Of Steel was a multimedia exhibition by artist Ian Raybould on show at artgene, Barrow-in-Furness, 21st - 28th October 2002. Shaun Blezard supplied the soundtrack and edited this document of the exhinition.

Men of Steel was inspired by Barrow's Wireworks, where Ian worked in the 1970's. The music is a 15 minute piece using rhythmic metallic clangs and recorded interviews with ex-wire workers to create an atmosphere reminiscent of working in the Wireworks.

Some highlights from the comments book at artgene:

'the music was really powerful'

'great match of image and sound'

'the soundtrack is superb'

'the sound gave a good atmosphere and made the effect even better. Well Done.'

'Riveting! The sound and images are very poignant and evocative'

A reworked version of the Men Of Steel soundtrack is featured on the Clutter album Shopping In A Shipyard Town - available for free download at www.earthmp.com
