Sir Richard Branson stakes his claim on 'England' on The World islands in Dubai

In March 2006, Dubai saw a classic PR stunt done by Sir Richard Branson. While launching his Virgin Airlines, Richard Branson staked his claim on "England" the artificial island part of 300 man-made islands known as The World off the coast of Dubai. Sir Richard hid in a telephone box on the island while press were having a tour of The World islands. Then as the press yachts got closer he jumped out of the red telehphone box, wearing a union jack suit and waving a Union Jack flag, stating "I Stake My Claim on England".
Just for fun, he brought Miss England as well!
Over 70 media persons were present and pictures, videos from the stunt were published/ broadcasted worldwide in almost every major newspaper in the world, including front page in all the newspapers in the UAE.
