Santa Clarita City Council Meeting; The Public Speakers ( Bob Kellar / Illegal Immigration )

For over a week, Councillman Bob Kellar's detractors had accused him of mouthing racist comments. Resultingly, members of the public jammed into Santa Clarita's City Council facility for an opportunity to defend his reputation and to decry the ills of illegal immigration. Here is some of what they had to say

Actually, that's not true. We're not "all immigrants." Most of the people present at that meeting were born in the United States. Further, "immigrants" were not the issue discussed that evening. We were talking about illegal aliens.

i think 'typsi' was referring to the HISTORICAL facts, and if you look in the history books you probably will see what i mean. CALIFORNIA was part of MEXICO and further more blaming 'illegals' for ALL of California's issue is by far out of context and ignorant

You're right. At one time California was part of Mexico. So what? How does that make us "all immigrants?" The majority of the folks at that meeting are U.S. citizens, born and raised.

Regardless of how you feel about illegal immigration, can we agree that there is no good context for calling yourself a "proud racist"? I'm sorry but it was really stupid and inappropriate for a Santa Claritan to "thank and congratulate" Councilman Kellar for his remarks. The Santa Claritans that spoke almost sounded as if they were saying "We stand with you Councilman Keller, we're proud racists too."

I believe in immigration, only if the immigrant can contribute to the greatness of America. German scientists of World War II made it possible for us to drop two atomic bombs on Japan and to send twelve men to the moon. Those are the kind of immigrants, that I want, not a bunch of uneduated toilet cleaners and dish washers. People with money, fleeing from Communism are welcome too!

Asking of people's legal status is an embarassment to any hispanic... If someone creates a crime that is ethically wrong then that should be punished. A person trying to work hard for their family and pay taxes should have a chance...

Yeah you should also ban withholding taxes from the illegal immigrants paychecks. the majority of them probably contribute more to american society than you do. plus so caucasians dont drink & drive?
