Los disquetes (cuyo nombre fue escogido para ser similar a la palabra "casete"), gozaron de una gran popularidad en las décadas de los ochenta y los noventa, usándose en ordenadores domésticos y personales ("PC") tales como Apple II, Macintosh, Commodore 64, Amiga e IBM PC para distribuir software, transferir datos entre ordenadores y crear pequeñas copias de seguridad. Antes de la popularización de los discos duros en los PC, los disquetes se usaban para almacenar sistemas operativos, aplicaciones informáticas y otros datos. Muchas PC almacenaban de forma permanente el núcleo de sus sistemas operativos en memorias ROM, pero guardaban sus sistemas operativos en un disquete, como ocurría con CP/M o, posteriormente, con DOS.

  • how many kb is the 8" and 5 1/4" i know the 3 1/2' is 1.44mb

  • @jedixo 5 1/4 disks are usually 360k 

  • @jedixo They both the 8 and the 5.25" have a maximum capacity of 1.2MB

  • why do you touch in the hole of the 5,25" Disk? U don't need it anymore? What about the 3" Disk for Schneider CPC ?
