Toothpick and Fork Wine Bottle Trick

Please comment! I learned this trick from a waiter in Mexico. I still don't fully understand how it is possible. If anyone can post a link or explain how this is possible I would appreciate it.

its like a cuirous trick when the person walks accross the wire there are holding a stick or something like that, that goes completly horizontal and has two things that are heavy on eather end that makes it almost impossible to fall off cuz some how it blances it all out. it is kinda like out smarting the laws of physics

@360rad yes, but I've had several people do it pretty quickly.  It takes a few tries, but once you get the feel it's pretty easy.

You already answered your question when you used the word "balanced". There is an equal amount of weight on each side of the vertical toothpick so it HAS to balance. Visually it looks impossible but it's simple physics. Ignore what you see, which is very cool, and realize that if things weren't in balance this wouldn't work.
