Does anyone know the name of this song and the author?
I'm also curious as to when African Americans began to sing shape note gospel. I think white shape note gospel goes back to the 1860's or 1870's (if I'm not mistaken). Anyway, this is the best shape note video I've seen yet.

This tune has nice harmony and a nice rhythm. The pictures were still shots and added a different dimension to the usual video

We will all JOIN IN and sing when our Lord returns, which I am expecting at any hour. May God Bless all the singers in this video. I love it.

Purely good. Respect for elders. Connection with those who trod the past.
That was a beautiful praise that almost brings tears to my eyes. I felt those songs came from the heart. Now I know what 7 shape note singing is. It was done in my church from what I called the "little black book" when I was little.
Question: Is the first part of the song a like a "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti" to get the notes or something else.
Thanks for posting.
