I doubt that's Laura's "real singing voice"...I read an old review of one of the theatre productions she was in, and I recall the writer saying she had a nice voice. But I might be misremembering. Either way, it's a cute scene :)

Female characters in television and movies tend to be lacking in complexity because they're merely being sold to the audience as a sex symbol. It's nice to see a complicated female character like Weaver.
