Jack Hanna & The von Trapp Family Singers

While hiking to Iceberg Lake in Glacier National Park, we met Jungle Jack Hanna (Columbus Zoo) and his wife Suzi. They were hiking with the great grandchildren of Captain von Trapp....Melanie, Amanda, Justin and Sofia von Trapp (the von Trapp Family Singers). Jack asked them to sing for us and it was amazing! Watch for their tour...(though you won't have the backdrop we did!) Thanks Jack & Suzi for the photo op, song and laughs!

Great video, but i just find it kind of random that jack Hanna would be travelling with the von trapp's grandchildren. not something you would expect to see every day.

Weird...right? Turns out that Jack Hanna hired the von Trapp's father (a mason) to construct his fireplace at his home in Montana. That was how they met long ago. The von Trap kids and Jack combined their efforts to raise money for the fund to relocate bears that wander too close to civilization. They stayed at a backcountry chalet the first night it was open that season in '09 for a fundraiser.

What a WONDERFUL mix; von Trapps AND Glacier National Park! Some of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, in the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. I've loved the von Trapp-familys' history since I was about 8 or 9 years old - and last summer I was able to go to Montana, and visit Glacier Nat.Park. Wow! Thanks for posting!!!

Glacier is my favorite spot (so far). There's just something about it....

I'm half Austrian and it was just so great to go back home to Minneapolis and show my Austrian father this video. He had just had a stroke and wasn't seeing a lot of joy in life. This was amazing to share with him. The Sound of Music was a show he would plop us in front of and say, "This is your homeland!". (a proud Austrian) Glad you enjoyed the video.
