how did you get it to not look grainy? when i tried to do low-light it was really grainy

@JHunterKeeler Sorry.. I don't really remember, as I don't use this camera since around 2 years ago... sorry.. :( I'm using DSLR to make my videos now.. :)

Just use the "spotlight" mode on the HV20/30/40 and you will get much improved low light performance.

In all other modes, in low light the camera will apply video gain to try and amplify the darkness to make it look bright. This results in video noise - or graininess in the video.

The HV30 adds video gain when ever the aperture is f2.8 or below. In "spotlight" mode, the HV30 does not add video gain and does not try to to amplify darkness to make it look bright. Also use 24P for 1/48th s exp.
