Thanks Grouchy for settig me straight. This has always been an all time favorite of mine...and to learn the entire personnel adds to my enjoyment. I particularly enjoy the "ccotch dancer-snake charmer" styling of the verse. Rather reminds me of Ipana Troubadours' ROSE OF MANDALAY. Thanks again for the correction!!
Here is the full personnel: Tommy Gott, Leo McConville (tp), Jack Teagarden (tb), Arnold Brilhart (cl, as), Alfie Evans (cl, as, bs), Joe Raymond, Joe Venuti (vln), Arthur Schutt (p), Eddie Lang (g), Tony Colucci (bjo), Babe Campbell (tuba), Vic Berton (drums), Roger Wolfe Kahn (dir), NYC, March 14, 1928
I'm sorry, but that's Jack Teagarden in one of his earliest recorded appearances. As great as Miff was, Jack had a sound that was totally unique. Just compare that solo with any of Miff's recordings with Red Nichols and you'll hear the difference.
No problem Lapisha1929. I guess it's the "Phil Schapp" in me! LOL!
