TQFC wants redress from fair trade

One local banana producing company says a regional entity is seeking to undermine it and destroy its business.
TQFC says Fair Trade has engaged in deliberate acts of sabotage including refusing to protect TQFC farmers against leafspot disease and giving members the impression that unless they sell to Fair Trade their produce will not be safe. The banana producer is fighting back its Managing Director says it will not go the ways of other banana producers that have been made redundant by Fair Trade one of only two companies certified to trade in fair trade bananas.
Peter Serieux says although Fair Trade had a monopoly for over a year while TQFC gained FLO certification it is now a situation where they are going to have the share the market.
