"Let's stop welcoming undocumented immigrants"

Moderator: John Hockenberry
Speaking for the motion: Vernon M. Briggs, Jr., Mark Krikorian and Heather Mac Donald
Speaking against the motion: Daniel T. Griswold, Enrique Morones and Karen K. Narasaki

IQ2US marks the launch of Oxford-style debating -- one motion, one moderator, three advocates for the motion, three against -- in New York City. Each evening begins at 6:00P with a complimentary cocktail period. As you enter the theater before the debate starts at 6:45P, you cast your vote for or against the evening's motion. Those results are displayed midway through the debate as each side makes its statements. After all six panelists speak, the audience has a chance to ask the speakers questions and vote again. The debate finishes with brief summations from the panelists, the votes are tallied and a winning side is declared.

  • Kirkorian is a hack! We should deport him back to where ever his family came from!

  • @bootylicification OH REALLY!!!!!!!!?????????????? Black males between 18-25 are 370 times more likely to be murdered than whites....that is not a problem my friend, that is an insane travesty!!!! GO FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY. WE DONT NEED THE BLACK COMMUNITY POINTING AT THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SAYING ...LOOK YOU HAVE A SPECK IN YOUR EYE....WHEN YOU HAVE A 700 FOOT RED WOOD IN YOUR OWN!!!

  • @bootylicification UR smoking something! there are no americans wanting to do work in 100 - 110 degree heat! Employment rate was just fine in 2005 until the stupid haters came out spitting their venom. Go back & check your stats again. We had full employment when we had no policy against immigrants in Dec. 2005 what happened in Texas in 2006 we had a state budget surplus of 10.7 billion dollars...after 5 years fo stupid idiots debating & complaints, We now have a short fall, thanks alot idiots!

  • C SPAN “Black Republican Forum” Session 2 (begin at 11:30) Allen West said one of the 1986 caveats was to secure our borders and enforcement our laws, but haven’t happened. (We’re still talking about new amnesty like DREAM Act.) We can’t allow local cities to make sanctuary cities policies, because they will bring our inner city turf wars to epic proportions by bringing in the drug cartel and Columbian gangs. (Mexican Gangs don’t recognize our borders established by the Treaty of Guadalupe)

  • In November 2010, the unemployment rate was 9.8% with 15.1 million unemployed. (15.1 million/9.8%) = 154 million are able to work in the workforce. 11,941,812 (or 11.9 million) skilled jobs provided to illegal immigrants. GOOGLE “illegal immigration counters”, the 15.1 million unemployed could take the 11.9 million available jobs. The unemployment rate could be reduced to 2.1% {{15.1-11.9)/154}

  • You need to understand the difference between REFORM, and politicizing.

    In order to achieve true reform, our government must go 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Instead of trying to shove amnesty down our throats,

    ENFORCING the law, by GETTING RID OF THE ILLEGALS. Not coddling them and making them feel welcome.

    Also reform the "Press 2 for Spanish" phone menus, changing them to "Press 2 to report an illegal alien to I.C.E."

    Those are examples of true reform. And vast reforms are needed.

  • you are wrong miNUTemanMOM

  • if numbers matter so much then why did america want nominees for president that were for comprehensive reform....and why do most americans want it....if this debate would have taken place in southern california...the results would have been quite differnet.

  • I think that this 'politics of hate' is an emotional straw man. It's more about the US is not about helping Mexico. Although many corporations send jobs to Mexico, India and the Caribbeans, people think they are protecting the borders when the corporations have WHORED off the US Citizen's jobs to the lowest bidder! Educated people from India return & Live WELL doing US customer service jobs making $40K US/year!

  • MORONes is wrong again. 65% of the US citizens do not support comprehensive immigration reform. BUILD THE WALL and enforce the law! That way two less fewer people will die MORONes.
