Helpful information from Texas Health Resources for new moms and dads on caring for their newborn baby after returning home from the hospital.

We're going to share with you some important information to help you adjust to changing priorities and demands on your time.

Let's get started as you and your newborn really get to know each other and establish a routine.

The information here is general in nature and not a substitute for the advice and medical care from your healthcare professional. If your Pediatrician recommends different instructions that are specific for your baby, please follow his or her advice.

Your baby's follow-up appointment with the Pediatrician usually comes 2-14 days after your discharge from the hospital depending on how long you've been in the hospital, your baby's weight and other factors. At that time, your Pediatrician will track your baby's growth and development along with weight gain, jaundice, and feedings.

  • Thank you for your comments about circumcision. The pediatrician addressing this topic does point out that circumcision is a choice the parents make.

As health care providers, our job is not to judge the choices made by parents, but to provide them with the medical information they may need following a common procedure. This video addresses many aspects of baby care and that is just one segment.

  • Circumcision IS a personal choice and should only ever be decided upon by a fully informed adult, about their OWN genitals.

Parents do your research and become fully informed. Any doctor who cuts into and creates a wound on the healthy genitals of a child is not following the Hippocratic Oath, First, Do No Harm.

You and your child will be far happier if you take your whole baby home. Circumcision causes undue stress, a raising of the cortisol (stress hormone) to very high levels.

  • Circumcision removes the most sensitive part of a man's penis. The five most sensitive areas of the penis are on the foreskin. The transitional region from the external to the internal foreskin is the most sensitive region of the fully intact penis, and more sensitive than the most sensitive region of the circumcised penis.

  • I just found out my brother was circumcised when he was a baby -:(

And I told my grandma that it was wrong to inflict pain on him just because their friends told them to so they would all look the same. And u know what my grandma said. "if u didn't circumcise ur son If u had one they would ask 'why didn't u do this to me?'."

    WHAT THE FUCK.

I think she SHOULD have ment if my son was circumcised he would ask 'why did u do this to me?'

WHOSE BODY, WHOSE RIGHTS?! mother fuckers

  • My sons will NOT be circumcised.! my pediatrician is great and reminded us that with the intact penis, care is easy & simple, just wash/clean what you see. -(^^,)-

  • My child isnt event born yet and im scared shitless

  • A nurse at Texas Health Presby Dallas spotted my daughter's heart defect after watching her breathe. Isn't that amazing? It was actually the rate of our baby girl's breathing combined with how her stomach and chest moved when she took air in. What a hero!

  • why they don't simply tell people that circumcision may result in the baby's death ? what a bunch of goons.

  • Circumcision is a wound. An unnecessary wound. Inflicting an unnecessary wound on a newborn is something only vile people do. Don't be one of those people!

  • I love how this video assumes that boys will come home mutilated. His body his choice!
