I represented Generation Y in this debate. Our generation is leading the change and going global faster than any generation. The news report states that 35% of our generation is not in college and a large number live at home with their parents. That is misleading because we do not choose to live with our parents or not attend college. Some of us cannot get jobs upon graduation or pay for college because of the economy. The baby boomers got us into this economic mess and our generation has the duty and burden to save our country. Baby Boomers can't create the mess and blame us as we are suffering from their mistakes. We will have to work even harder to raise our kids, pay for their college tuition, and provide the same standard of living that the baby boomers enjoyed. The sad truth is that some of the boomers are also caught in this mess and we must all work together as a country. All the generations need to stop pointing fingers and start working together as Americans to steer the country in the right direction.

We have a good start... Google. Facebook. Paypal. Enough said.

  • Gen y are committed and loyal if treated fairly. And moving back home for most is a smart economic choice. The boomers have screwed the world up, that is why we only let them have two terms at President.

  • Everything that the Boomer stated about Gen Y at the beginning, described the Boomer "Me" generation perfectly. If he wants to blame Gen Y for not having good role models and being raised in a single family home, he only needs to look in the mirror. Most of Gen Y parents are Boomers.

  • Getting a college education now requires that you build-up credit card debt, a shitty job now comes with shitty pay, and a candy bar now costs $3.00 when it used to cost just .50 cents.

And this is all happening while the boomers discuss more important issues of the day. You know, like how vital it is that gay couples are kept from eating wedding cake.

"Every American deserves the opportunity to climb up the ladder of success."

--- The ladder needs to be there, dipshit.

  • look at the fucking boomers, bashing generation Y as lazy and entitled. Just like they did to genX. These pricks are just projecting... They seem to be happy to call 3 generations following them lazy and lacking work ethic. They are full of shit. They are the ones who have fucked everything up with THEIR ENTITLEMENT BULLSHIT!

  • @mindyhuskey most of Gen Y are born to Gen X..you skipped my parents generation xD

  • my generation hates each other thats why their is no unity

  • I give points to both guests. There are truly many smart, hard working and competent people in Gen Y, especially within tech and science. And like shadowroomdc says, if you take (given you can get it) a large set of applicants, you will find exceptional and engaged individuals among many just with an education in the field and looking for a paycheck.

On the other hand, many Gen Y in jobs such as pizzeria or store clerks work just so they can have a paycheck, and no more engagement.

  • shadowroomdc says "We (Gen Y / Millennials) have a good start... Google. Facebook. Paypal. Enough said".

But actually, Google and Paypal were created by Gen Xers -- who were born between 1961-1981.

  • gen y will fight and lose ww3

  • @doctordoctordocism sounds like a geny blame others for there own problems time to grow up gen y are useless spoilt brats

  • @doctordoctordocism I don't care, I envy them for the years they got to see but I missed out on.

  • @Supergungun "we" spoiled brats? that you, apparently, are not a part of? lol wow you just insulted yourself dude.

  • @doctordoctordocism The baby boomers were a great generation compared to you spoiled brats.

  • wait... woah woah woah... "WE?" DUDE... OLD FART WITH THE GREY HAIR.. you are NOT part of the "greatest" generation! you are a FUCKIN BABY BOOMER! so STFU YOURE THE REASON WE HAVE TO SUFFER DUE TO YOUR MISTAKES LEADING TO OUR FAILED ECONOMY! FUUUUCK YOUUUU

  • Hey Gen Y this was the average parent of Gen X. Yeah that was fun...NOT!

  • Dasshole

  • I wonder how many chicks this dude impregnated at woodstock.

  • i don't see anything wrong with wanting a job that pays well but doesn't require much work it isn't very realistic but it would be great to have hahaha

  • Allen has hit the nail on the head. Das's nightclub is a nuisance to its residential neighbors who fought it before it opened and currently fight it. Das could care less about their concerns. He is not a productive member of the community as far as his ridiculous club is concerned and is slowly eroding the fabric of a decent residential neighborhood to selfishly expand his profit margin. He is a mushed-mouth, oily, double-talking a-hole.

  • @SavertonJr Not that young considering my boomers parents bought a house, had a family, and two automobiles all in their early 20's. This is the case for most from this generation. For most people, our parents were relatively much better off around the same age period. 29 isn't that young at all considering I might live to only see my 60's (mostly due to health problems).

  • @MegaAvalonn 29? Dude you're are still fucking young.

  • Alen owns a pizzaria who's had a bad experience with Gen Y. Swaptak is the owner of a high-tech club who's had a good experience with Gen Y.

Gen Y won't stay with a company that doesn't challenge them. It becomes boring to them (they're kind of ADD). But they can be intensely focused in short bursts, therefore boosting productivity.

Alan must not be challenging his employees or keeping the workplace enjoyable and professional. This is what a Gen Yer looks for in employment.

  • n he was one of the bad parents that caused our generation to 'fail' not 50

  • this allen guy is crazy, ignorant, and has no clue what he is talking about. he does not understand the way the world will be

  • In fairness, I did agree whole heartedly with the boomer employer towards the end that there is a lot of fear, both irrational and justifiable, that's causing Generation Y in particular to act on impulse. . .
