"Long ago, Mommy used to be Daddy" is the name of this series. It's the story of Kohtani Hitomi (F) -- born Kohtani Hitoshi (M) -- and her two sons, Shun and Ryo. The six-episode series is an entertaining drama which is meant to provide some insight into the daily struggles which sex reassignment surgery patients such as Hitomi have to endure in a society which doesn't fully understand the concept of being born a woman in a man's body and how this is different from being born a gay man. This isn't even just a Japanese issue -- it's just as relevant in the United States and in much of the developed and developing world.

The purpose in uploading this small segment of the episode is to generate interest in the program, particularly amongst international fans of Japanese television who may not normally have access to programming of this nature in their home countries.
In this scene, Hitomi gives Shun the freedom to choose which of his two mothers he would prefer to live with: his biological mother, or his biological father-turned-mother. When Shun picks his biological mom, Hitomi respects Shun's decision because she truly wants what's best for him, but she is absolutely heartbroken: before it was bad enough when the entire world had rejected her for who she was, but now she felt as if he own beloved son was rejecting her too.
