Beethoven Sonata 23 "Appassionata" Part 1/3 - Allegro assai by Tzvi Erez - performed on a 1912 Bosendorfer piano. Compose 1804/05. Urtext Version.

This emotional sonata, was composed around the same time as Beethoven's 5th Symphony, and features the same musical "4 note" motif all over this movement.

I have always regarded this Sonata as one of Beethoven's best, filled with both serenity and extreme anger and turmoil. At this time in his life, the great composer and maestro was coming to terms with his deafness. A suitable recording for the new collection:
