Would it not be 5.33 kilometers not 5.33 miles?? Sorry not being a smart arse :), just thought you were dealing in K's not miles. Love the vids champ, I am learning more now than I ever did in class and I am 27!!!

It will not be so hairy if it is done this way:
Find x = 5(cos15) = 4.8
FInd y = 5 (sin 15) = 1.3
FInd Z = 4.8 -10 = 5.2
Find M using pythagorean theorem = 5.3
I like your videos a lot though and you are very helpful.
Thanks a lot.

I love how when you get farther into the videos, the views start to drop like people stop watching them lol.

wasn't it Kilometers?

Thank you so much for simplifying this problem. I know I am not in your class, but I appreciate your videos. I am a trig student in South Carolina and I am looking forward to studying more in the future. Thank you.

when i simplified for M in the calculator, usin your formula i didnt get 5.33 =[

i am 33 years old indian learning the trigo a fresh
please explain me what should be the angle that poor captain should take so that it reaches the destination.
i learnt the trigonometry by giving names like a b c to each of the three points of the trigle.
thank you very much,

nice video but i would also like to see use the cosine rule next
Hey I just wanted to know if what I know is correct... could you have just used the cosine rule a^2 = b^2+c^2-2*b*c*cos(x). BTW I though that was pretty funny when you said at the end "Have fun!"

Yeah, that would have been faster. I tend to do all my trigonometry using the basic functions when I can (avoids having to memorize things), but you are correct. Maybe I'll do the same problem again that way. thanks.
