This is a video taken at a weekly SCA Gathering called Shire. Here I am heavy fight practicing for the second time with another fellow beginner named Dave.

We are both being instructed by my friend Hutch, "Bear" and Ragnar.

*NOTE: I couldn't make shots below the waist due to Dave not wearing a protective cup

I bruised Dave's arm from this =P

  • metal shields dont sound as nice as wooden shields, when they get hit... :(

  • @123qwe910

Metal shields are also lighter and quicker/easier to wield.

  • Very nice. you both show a lot of promise as fighters. Your doing well for just your second practice. If you don't mind a piece of advice. I like to start teaching the new guys in my area by starting with their feet(its one of the most important parts of fighting. Your stance tends to be very flat. As in standing square to your opponent. Your body should be square but keep your feet at a 45 degree from each other. like a boxing stance. This will give you more stability to throw your shots from.

Thanks. Funny how you notice my stance. I hate it myself. One of the other fighters was showing me that stance and I dont like it. My movement is not as fluid. The other video you commented on stating I seem to be moving better there, its before he had me change up my stance. I normally take a martial arts stance which I find better and keeps me grounded if I am being pushed against.

  • @ZDayProduction true but there both about the same.

  • Yeah...I'd stick with your MA stance. Seems to suit you better.
