leafs were 1 point up on the islanders and this was the final game of the season, leafs had the tiebreaker so devils had to win didnt matter if it went into ot/shootout

Errmmm no. The Leafs were 1 point ahead of the Islanders and the Isles needed to win in regulation or overtime/shootout to beat the Leafs out. The Devils finished 2nd in the east that year.

@RangersFan991 no its cuz leafs had no more games left and this was nj last game. leafs and devils were tied. if nj won they went to the playoffs if they lose leafs go to the playoffs

@RangersFan991 that doesnt matter. when the islanders won it brought them to the 8th spot and bumped the leafs down to the 9th.

@RangersFan991 it means that there was a 1 point difference between the 2 teams fighting for the last spot...and because it went into OT..that means that the team tied for last spot now has 1 more point than the last spot..so leafs got knocked off

its good that they scored but later in shoot out the islanders won.
