These boats had loud diesel engines detectable at night but were certainly a devastating weapon in the kreigsmarine arsenal.

@anghmho E-Boat, Powered by Mercedes diesels. Late models approx 10,000hp. Top speed 45 +knots. empty. battle stations fully loaded 35-38 knots. prime difference is in the design of the hull. E-boat purpose built, 'Lurssen" hull for the North sea. U.S. Power Boat hull. E-boat superior sea-keeping manners. Heavier armanent. Some had armour plate at the bridge area.E-boat, Exhaust mufflers fitted for 'stealth' mode. Opened up when engaging in combat. E-boat superior to anything else.

Much bigger than the US PT boat, And I note the telegraph, very different from the US throttle control from the cockpit. What speed did this vessel reach? What were the prime differences between this boat and the US PT?

@4Bluetars,Yep,it'a 77ft Elco, it was the MTB 314. 02.1942 transferred to Royal Navy.
14.09.1942 heavy damaged off Tobruk,then captured by Kriegsmarine and renamed,
RA 10.
