Trailer for the independent film Primer.
$7k budget, very creative, extremely well thought out & intelligent film. Highly recommended!

This movie is very complex and difficult to follow. The director doesn't do a good job of explaining the timeline properly. Kind of all over the place. At the end you are confused and have to go back and watch the movie again or read a synopsis to understand. You will definitely not understand this movie if you just watch it once. More explanation is required which is why I feel the directer failed to make this film properly. I enjoy thinking during a film, but homework should not be required.

No it doesn't. No matter how fast you go, your experience of time doesn't change, it only changes for those you've left behind. That's why it's called relativity ! So no matter how fast you go, you will still age at the same rate in your own skin, your own experience of time will not change. In other words, you won't live to a thousand no matter how fast you run !

Earth moves through the universe at an estimated combined speed of around 2.7 million mph, factoring in orbit around the sun, movement of the solar system through the galaxy, and the movement of the galaxy itself. So that is our standard frame of relativity for the passage of time. To completely stop all motion, would require achieving absolute zero, the point where no atomic motion at all can occur. So basically, time moves its absolute fastest, at a temperature that is unachievable.

that's not true at all, and it is very simple conceptual physics behind this.. the faster you go, the slower time goes. go the speed of light, time stops completely. if you stop completely, (impossible given gravity) well then time for you would be going much faster but we don't know what that speed would be so...

I didn't find it confusing, too cerebral or over my head; I found it unbelievably tedious. A movie about time travel where almost nothing happens. Granted, having read SF for more than 30 years, I'm a bit jaded. There's nothing about the subject that Heinlein didn't do better sixty years ago. 95% of the film consists of two of yuppies talking, and they're not even particularly likeable yuppies. Unimpressive acting, nothing new to say. Only spectacular to those who don't know the genre..
