Hundreds of bargain-hungry shoppers stepped on a fallen Wal-Mart worker, who died Friday morning, after the crowd knocked down the store's front doors -- and the worker -- during the "utter chaos" of a Black Friday shopping melee, Nassau County police said.

"A throng of shoppers . . . physically broke down the doors" around 5 a.m. Friday and knocked the 34-year-old part-time worker to the ground as the crowd pushed its way into the store at the Green Acres Mall, Nassau police said.

Police identified the worker as Jdimytai Damour of Jamaica, Queens.

"This crowd was out of control," said Nassau Police Det. Lt. Michael Fleming, whose squad is investigating the death. He characterized the melee as "utter chaos."

  • This is nothing more than evidence that humanity needs a purging, a BIG one

  • I tend to agree with you, but the question is just how the purging takes places? The problem is that it is the system which purges and the the people who permit the system to exist in whatever form it exists at present, so just maybe we all need to rethink how this system should be?

  • I blame walmart for the lack of organization. There should be a line and security guys everywhere making sure nobody gets hurt. The problem here is like people blame people while the big walmart corporate gets richer saving cash in cuts of salaries, the big parasite of walmart getting bigger and saving expenses on salaries.

  • Ah yes the blame in this particular case does lie with Walmart, but the reason for the lack of security and the behaviour of the mass is that of greed, Walmart wants money and people want junk in order to feel good in a society where if you don't consume you are nothing, maybe just maybe it is the system that need to change just a little?

I'm English and that appealed to the Black humour part of my English humour. No disrespect to the victim here, but your comments sums it all up really, in a vary satirical form. Thank, for the smile.

  • It's easy to talk about "greed" and "purging" and "sheeple" and other one-word ideas, but the fact is that stuff like this is only preventable by the organizers. A crowd is a system with its own dynamics, and trying to apply the morality of an individual to it is like trying to apply morality to a hurricane.

  • People don't get hurt in situations like this because they get greedy and trample each other. They get crushed and asphyxiate from the pressure. The people pushing from behind don't realize that people in front are getting hurt. The people in front push forward because that's all they can do; there's a thousand pounds of pressure behind them. It's not primal greed and there's nothing the people in the crowd can do about it; it's ALL on the store to have proper crowd controls in place.

  • @ayashemausi

you are the prime example of a liberal douche that is killing america, blame everyone but the ones responsible, make criminals victims, and allow more frivolous lawsuits to kill businesses nationwide. you're saying that people cant police themselves and should be treated like children by their government

  • Many of us aren't first graders, we're grown adults who should've learned by now how to stay in line and not push others out. It isn't any store's duty to ensure that we all behave properly. True, Wal-Mart should've taken better precautions before something like this happened, but single filing adults and forcing them in line? Why did we come that far anyway? This is the greed of the people, not so much Wal-Mart.

  • @EmperorMarcusNovius I hope to live long enough to see the western word collapse, just out of curiousity. Its russian roulette, climate change bullet, nuclear war bullet, oil depletion bullet, others. There is simply not enough intellegent humans in charge, they are all in Labs, advising the politicians who are voted in by the brainwashed public, and have their own agendas.
