@margovallen This is an interesting comment. Empirically, if we can safely use that term in the world of artistic expression, Roy is an amazing player. There's just really no denying it from at the very least a technical standpoint. But at the same time, I saw Rocky play with John Mayall last night and the guy has a serious command of his guitar. Honestly, both of these men should be enjoyed for the way they've interpreted blues guitar playing. They provide different things.

@robibm2003 Well, I know darn good guitar playing when I hear it.. and Roy Buchanan has never really done much to impress me. I listened to him some, many years ago.. saw him on TV a couple of times and he never held my attention, really. In fact, just recently I thought maybe it was just me, so I caught some RB on youtube.. and it was all I could do to stay awake. Sorry.. needless to say, he's is not one of my faves. Rocky Athas, on the other hand KICKS ASS! The boys from Oak Cliff.. nuff said!

The most underrated guitarist of all time? Oh come on! Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton, among others, can knock this guy into a cocked hat. This was good, but not as transcendantly so as Roy's stuff was.
