Finally after all these years I get to see an IVT/CVT in real world use. Absolutely awesome! This is what I want in my generator and my car transmission! VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Could you tell me if this is a half or full toroidal ivt

Effeciency is everything see

Q also a Full Toroidal Variator claims almost 100% efficiency because of the way it arranges the rollers

It's a lovely solution, but I reckon, like all such things, there is considerable power loss in the form of heat created by the friction of churning traction fluid and pressure of mating surfaces. As I noted in another video, that for highest efficiency, rolling "epicycloidal" gear teeth remain the most efficient. But, as you well know, you can't have CVT with gears. Always a trade-off in any design. This thing is...how efficient at various loads and ratios?

@ampdavolts
Thank you.
The efficiency of our CVT average a little over 90%. The efficiency stay almost flat at all ratios and over 20% load. We also have some technology improvement that can increase the efficiency to 97.5% that can be applicable depending of the application the CVT is use for.

I need contact info. I help in maintence with a 1938 brill master unit trolley which we power via a 60kw genset that we tow behind the car. It has been modified to output 600volts DC. However, because of it's origonal AC nature, and our needs for maximum power (60kw isn't really enough at times, 120kw would be more like it) at points we run the genset flat out all the time. This creates noise, but since it's idle 98% of the time, it also clags up the turbo and causes deposits to form.

@Polybun contact our sales department, sales@cvtcorp.com. They will be happy to help you with your genset problems.

This device looks great. Is it feasable to make something like this for a gen-set in the small range (<10 kW output or engine under 30 hp)?
Zetune79 2 years ago
Yes it is feasable, we basicly have to scale down our design to fit the torque of the engine.
